Atlanta, GA  (September 3, 2015) – Pope McGlamry P.C., is pleased to announce that attorney Tom Willingham has joined the Auto Defects Team at the firm’s Atlanta headquarters.

Willingham focuses his practice on advising injury victims, primarily those who have been catastrophically injured or killed in automobile accidents as a result of defective automobiles. Throughout his legal career he has handled automotive product liability cases that have involved the following defects: lack of vehicle stability, defective steering system components, defective seatbelt restraints, defective airbags, defective fuel tanks, defective roof structure components, defective brakes, defective door latch components, failure to install electronic stability controls, as well as cases involving a manufacturer’s failure to install rear seat lap shoulder belts.

Tom brings over 20 years of automotive, product liability and litigation experience to Pope McGlamry and his years of representing automotive manufacturers have given him unique insight into screening, evaluating and prosecuting these extremely complex product liability cases.

His litigation experience includes cases against General Motors, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Kia. He has obtained verdicts and settlements in favor of his clients in excess of one hundred million dollars during the course of his career.

Willingham’s addition to the law firm will be a welcomed expansion to the firm’s Auto Defects Group. “Tom is one of the best auto products trial lawyers in the country. Automotive manufacturers and their defense counsel know and respect him,” said Mike McGlamry, Shareholder of Pope McGlamry. “We are excited to have Tom on our team and his expertise will be an asset to the firm and the clients we serve.”

Tom Willingham graduated from Cumberland School of Law in 1987 and began his legal career as a defense attorney. In 1992, he made the decision to focus exclusively on representing injury victims. He is admitted to practice in both the State of Georgia and Alabama and is an active member of the American Association for Justice and serves on its Product Liability Section.  He is also a Board Member of the Attorneys Information Exchange Group, which is a nationwide group of Plaintiff lawyers who actively prosecute automotive defect cases.  He is also an AV Rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating that a lawyer can achieve.
