Pope McGlamry Hosts First Annual Teed Up For Torts Golf Tournament 2015

On August 17th, Pope McGlamry’s held its first annual “Teed up for Torts” golf tournament.   The firm hosted ten teams of colleagues from around the Atlanta area at Bear’s Best golf club in Suwanee, with part of the proceeds donated to support the International Women’s House in Decatur.

The International Women’s House is a shelter and resource center that assists victims of domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault. Founded almost 20 years ago, IWH is the only shelter in Georgia equipped to assist victims with multiple cultural, religious and language backgrounds, and has helped women and children from over 40 different countries find a successful path to a violence-free life.  International Women’s House has been nationally recognized for its successful programs fighting human trafficking, domestic violence and violence against women.

The weather started out pretty “iffy” on the morning of the tournament, with the first morning rainstorms Atlanta had experienced all summer.  But the storms cleared as bidding on the team most likely to win was completed.   We spent a great day on the links.

We enjoyed a barbecue lunch while the results of the friendly competition were tallied.  Congratulations to team “American Pharoah” and its members Buck Daniel, Steve Daniel, Kyle Smith and Randy Mosteller, the overall winners, as well as to team “Angel Light” and its members Pat McMahon,Gerry Chmielewski, Roy Aanerud and Tom Tidwell who came in second.  Further congratulations to John Fitzgerald who bid on the winning team and who graciously donated half of his winnings to the International Women’s House.

As Mike McGlamry said, “We think it was a fun event that supported a great cause in IWH.   Thanks to everyone who joined us, and we hope to see them – and other colleagues – at our second annual golf tournament in 2016.”
