Michael J. Blakely, Jr.

M.J. Blakely is a trial lawyer specializing in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases, mass torts, class actions and other complex litigation. He attended Oxford College and Emory College of Emory University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 2002. M.J. earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2006. While in law school, M.J. was a member of the Mock Trial Board and Mock Trial Team and received the Weinberg, Wheeler, Hudgens, Gunn and Dial Award for Outstanding Mock Trial Advocate. He served as a research assistant for Dean Rebecca H. White in the area of Employment Discrimination, and was a Joseph Henry Lumpkin Inn of Court Pupil, the Vice President of the Black Law Student’s Association, and a Dean’s Ambassador.

Prior to joining Pope McGlamry in 2011, M.J. worked for a large suburban law firm in Gwinnett County. He has tried several cases to verdict and successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Georgia. He has also been appointed by the Supreme Court of Georgia to serve as a Special Master on professional, ethics and disciplinary issues.

M.J. and his wife, Jennifer, an excellent attorney in her own right, have two wonderful children. In his spare time M.J. enjoys cycling, running, camping, and just about anything else that gives him a chance to be outside.
